June 3: Celebrating Our Gifts

* Listen to this sermon * Subscribe to our sermon podcast *

Join us for our Anniversary Sunday as we celebrate the many gifts which make our community possible. We will be recognizing the contributions so many of you make, hearing from various members, making music and generally having a good time. It will be followed by a potluck luncheon. Hope to see you there!

Our service begins at 11 a.m. in the Lodge at Woodlawn School, just north of Davidson. Find us.

  • Nursery for ages 0-PreK starting at 10:45 a.m, in the classroom adjacent to the Lodge.
  • Religious Exploration for children, grades K-2 and 3-5, leaving the service after story time.
  • Religious Exploration for adults, 9:45 a.m., led by John Morgan.  Ever thought Sufi was just the plural for “surfer”? Have you seen those Whirling Dervishes, those men spinning in circles with skirts on, and exclaimed, “what in the world is that all about?!” Perhaps you have read the poetry of Rumi and wondered about his faith. This Sunday at 9:45 am, we will take a look into the deeper content, rather than the external form, of Islam.
Please join us and we invite you to PARTICIPATE by 1) picking a Sufi tale at the link following, then 2) be prepared to tell the story in your own words and what it means to you. Click here for Sufi tales. Rumi poetry translated and read by Coleman Barks. My favorite Sufi poem.
  • Newcomers ClassJune 3, 9:45-10:45 before service

If you would like to learn more about this congregation or Unitarian Universalism in general, then this is your chance.  Please RSVP to membership@uulakenorman.org   Please let us know if you need child care.

  • Bring a dish to share at the potluck following the service! Drinks will be provided.
