June 5: Rev. Brooks, When Our Heart is in a Holy Place

From our consulting minister, Rev. Amy Brooks: Unitarian Universalism tends to grow with the times.  Over the years we have been at the forefront of new theologies, new social concerns, new rituals, new ideas of sacred space.  What then grounds us?  I would maintain we are grounded by a heart-felt sense of love, justice, peace and hope.  And, as it turns out, “when our heart is in a holy place” is not a new idea but one found in religious traditions around the world.

Following the service, please plan to stay and join us for lunch in celebration of our first anniversary – one year since Charter Sunday. All are welcome.

Our service begins at 11 a.m. in the Lodge at Woodlawn School, just north of Davidson. Find us.

  • Nursery for ages 0-3 starting at 10:45 a.m, in the classroom adjacent to the Lodge.
  • Faith Development for children.  During the summer, structured activities are provided for ages 4-10, starting after story time during the service, in the classroom two doors down from the Lodge.
  • No Faith Development for adults this week.
  • Please bring a donation for Loaves & Fishes if you are able.
