Our congregation is celebrating April as Earth Month, a way to remember our relationship to our natural environment. Members of our congregation will share their experience of visiting the local landfill. Our consulting minister, Rev. Amy Brooks, will reflect upon the idea of “green sanctuary” both as a personal relationship to nature and as a movement to live a “greener” lifestyle.
Our service begins at 11:00 a.m. and will be held in the conference room of Tomlinson Residence Hall on Davidson College Campus. Find us.
- Please bring a donation for Loaves & Fishes if you are able. At this time they particularly need shampoo, toothpaste, adult toothbrushes, dishwashing liquid, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, and soup. They are also preparing for Easter: cake mixes and frosting, canned hams, boxed potatoes, canned sweet potatoes or yams, and green beans.
- Faith Development for children. Ages 8-12 starts at 9:45 in the basement room of the Multicultural House adjacent to Tomlinson. Ages 5-7 starts after story time during the service.
- Faith Development for adults. We will be talking about the last of James Luther Adams’ “Five Smooth Stones of Liberalism”: Joy. Resources are available – both human and divine – that can help to bring about the changes we seek. These resources are a cause for ultimate optimism. This is a portion of an essay in the book On Being Human Religiously, available online for free. Class starts at 9:50 a.m., in Tomlinson.
