“The Ethics of What We Eat: A Service for Earth Day”
by Rev. Karen Matteson
Choosing good food ought to be simple now that there’s an abundance of organic food, many farmers’ markets and heightened environmental awareness. As with all of our efforts to live ethically and sustainably, it’s more complicated than we might think
Come and join us for our Earth Day Service this Sunday April 18th on the campus of Davidson College, in the conference room of Tomlinson residential hall. Come and let us fellowship together with spiritual nurturing, music, children’s story, talk and conversation. Doors will open at 10:30 am with the service starting at 11:00 followed by refreshments and conversation.
Rev. Karen Matteson is the interim minister of the Piedmont UU Church in the University City area of Charlotte. In the nearly 20 years since she graduated from Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago, she’s served UU congregations in Birmingham AL, Richmond VA, Chicago, IL and, for the last two years, Charlotte. She’s been interested in the health, economic and environmental impact of our food choices for several years and the struggles to match up her convictions with her actions. Considering difficult issues like this with fellow UU’s encourages her efforts.
All are welcome regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ability or economic status
We are a liberal faith community.
Note: CHILDREN ARE WELCOME IN OUR SERVICES
