Please join us for our next meeting Monday May 4th at 7:30 PM in our new meeting location in the Ada Jenkins Center 212 Gamble Street, Davidson, NC. Come early if you like and chat with friends. Doors open at 7:00.
Come and be part of our program for fellowship, music performed by Theresa Woody, contemplative silence and spiritual enrichment. Our Featured speaker will be Hun Lye, an Assistant Professor of Religion at Davidson College. Hun will speak to us about Buddhism
Born and raised in Malaysia, Professor Lye teaches in the area of East Asian religions, with emphasis on the religions of China and its historical and cultural orbit. His graduate training also included sustained study of Tibetan religion and Islam (Shi’ism). Professor Lye’s current research interests include Chinese Buddhist ritual and liturgical traditions, Buddhist foodways and religions of Chinese diasporic communities. He is currently working on a book-length publication on ghost-feeding rituals in Chinese Buddhism.
Originally, our meeting on May 4th was to be centered on a UU Fellowship of Lake Norman shared vision quest, coming together as a liberal faith community to form a shared vision for the future of UUFLN. We will tackle this issue at a later date.
The only way to make sure people you agree with can speak is to support the rights of people you don’t agree with.
